• Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) was established in 1991 and reorganized by a Government Decision in 1995 as an independent public institution under the auspices of the Ministry of Research and Technology (actually, the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport). ROSA is the national co-ordinating body of the space activities.
  • The missions of ROSA are to promote and coordinate development and national efforts in the field, and, as a Government representative, to promote international cooperation. In particular, ROSA is authorized to establish research and development centres oriented on specific objectives of the Romanian Space Programme. ROSA is developing its own research and development projects.
  • On behalf of the Government, ROSA is the national representative in the cooperative agreements with international organizations, such as European Space Agency (ESA) and Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), as well as bilateral governmental agreements. Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROSA is representing Romania in the sessions of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Use of Outer Space (COPUOS) and its Subcommittees.
  • The acting President (since 2004) and Chief Executive Officer (since 1995) of ROSA is Mr. Marius-Ioan Piso, Ph.D. Prof. The Honor President is the Romanian cosmonaut Mr. Dumitru Dorin Prunariu Ph.D. Eng.
  • The activity of the institute is characterized by a dynamics of the preoccupations permanently connected to the requests that have developed over the years, so that now we have a comprehensive experience that is the basis for approaching new issues occurred in the field of the sustainable water resources management and the correlation with the European legislation for Romania's integration into the European Union.
  • The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management has also as attributions, services and research-development activities on large expertise areas that cover in practice all water management and hydrological fields (in natural and infrastructure development regime of waters).
  • The University of Bucharest is one of the leading institutions of higher education in Romania, and enjoys a considerable national and international prestige, acquired over almost 146 years. Its various schools are well known for their activities in all important scientific and academic domains. Its graduates have included many prominent personalities: teachers and researchers at important universities all over the world, members of the Romanian Academy and of similar institutions in other countries, writers, politicians (members of the Romanian parliament, ministers, prime ministers and presidents), diplomats, high-ranking ecclesiastical figures etc.
  • Within Romania and abroad, the University of Bucharest is generally considered to be the country’s leading educational and research institution. Successive generations of students and teachers have succeeded in establishing it as a point of reference for the whole of Romanian society.
  • The University of Bucharest is one of the most important centres of scientific research in the country. There are over 50 institutes, departments and research centres functioning within UB, most of which work in collaboration with similar centres in other countries. During the last years, our institution has repeatedly taken first place in national competitions for research funds. Some of the research centres have been recognised as excellence centres at the European level. Outside Bucharest, the University has research bases at Sinaia, Brăila, Orşova and other pilot centres in various localities in the country.
